What Keeps You Running?

It’s officially winter. A time for movies, family games, fireplaces, hot chocolate, reading good books and comfort food. But the run must go on. I’d like to say it’s hard to run in the cold but honestly it’s hard to run in the cold, in the heat, in the rain etc. It’s just hard to run, period. That’s what makes it so rewarding.

So why do we run?

  1. To feel skinny
  2. Sanity
  3. To eat whatever I want
  4. Empowerment
  5. For energy
  6. To clear the mind
  7. For friendship
  8. To feel alive and a part of the universe
  9. Quiet, me, myself and I time
  10. Simplicity

What keeps you running?

  1. 1. clear my mind

    2. control

    3. because I think I can’t

    4. stay active

    5. i always feel better after it’s over

    6. challenge

    7. it’s free

    8. maybe lose a few pounds

    9. just me, myself, and I

    10. because i never used to

    • runningchic, love your blog and especially your quote: “Running is a mind game…that never ends.” SO true. I look forward to following you on the journey to your half in 2010!

  2. I run…

    because I can
    for mental health
    for physical health
    for my sex life
to fit in my skinny jeans
    to challenge myself
    to lose myself in thought
    to push myself
    because I used to think I couldn’t

Run until you can’t run anymore!

  3. I run

for mental health (use to mow the lawn for this reason as the kids wouldn’t come near me then the “baby” started mowing the lawn)

to outrun all the heredity that my parents are trying to give to me

    to exercise

because I love it – even in 11F wind chill

and for all those other reasons up here!

  4. Why I run…

At least an hour of uninterrupted “me” time.

To feel a sense of accomplishment.

To deserve that 2nd (or 3rd) glass of wine.

    It doesn’t require a membership.

Walk out my front door and just hit the road. Harder to come up with excuses when your “gym” is 15 steps from your front door.

I feel like a badass after long runs ; )

Because my husband thinks it’s great and always asks how far I went and I love to brag.

Because I’m 43 and this is the quickest way to keep my body in line.
